Ingredients Needed for Your Scary Meatballs for Halloween

  • ยฝ lb ground Italian sausage
  • ยฝ lb ground beef, turkey, or chicken
  • 1 egg
  • ยผ cup Italian bread crumbs
  • ยผ cup Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ยฝ tsp garlic powder
  • Olive oil
  • 1 package of crescent dough (find it in your refrigerated section of the grocery store)
  • Candy Eyes
  • Black decorating gel

Directions to Make – Halloween Mummy Meatballs

This recipe will make about 24 medium to large meatballs. You can adapt it to make smaller meatballs, but the cooking time will need to be shortened.

If made smaller, your strips of pastry dough will also have to be made smaller as well.

Preheat your oven according to the crescent doughโ€™s instructions and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Pour a bit of olive oil into a skillet and heat on medium heat.

Start by mixing in your meatball ingredients. In a large bowl, add your meat, egg, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and seasoning.

Using your hands, gently mix everything together. One of the secrets to making great meatballs is to not over-mix your ingredients.

Once completed, mix. It is time to start rolling your prepared meat into meatballs. After you have completed rolling your meatballs.

It is time to cook them. Place them in a warmed skillet. Brown your meatballs, but donโ€™t cook all the way through (almost, but not completely).

While the meatballs are cooking, unroll the crescent dough.

Cut the dough into long strips.

These are going to be your appendages. Don’t worry about them being perfect or even strips.

Putting Your Halloween Meatballs Together

Make sure you let the meatballs cool down before wrapping them in the crescent doughโ€ฆ.you donโ€™t want any burnt fingers!! When your meatballs are done, pat dry and wrap one of the crescent roll strips. Place on your greased baking sheet.

Bake according to the crescent doughโ€™s instructions. Once baked, use a small drop of decorating gel on the back of a candy eye (I used these Wilton Candy Eye Balls) and attach it to the mummy meatball.

How cute are those creepy little eyes peeking out from their mummy meatball wrap? Now you are ready to eat with a side of bloody marinara sauce. ENJOY! Great to serve at your next Halloween party or for dinner on the day of Halloween.

How to Store Your Mummy Meatballs

Your meatballs can be made ahead of time. And store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to one week before eating.

However, if you want to serve them warm, do not place them in the microwave to reheat. Place in oven at 300 degrees for 10 minutes. This will ensure the meatballs will not shrink and the dough will be crispy and not soggy.
