The Perfect Leftover Baked Ham Sandwich Recipe
Soon the HOLIDAY dinners will be in full swing.
After dinner, (after you unzip those pants), you will find during clean-up that you have a lot of leftovers.
What to do? What to do?
If you have been to one of my many grocery savings coupon workshops, I spend a lot of time talking about meal planning and eating my favorite “leftover makeovers” as another quick dinner option. These baked ham sandwiches are one of those easy recipe meal favorites.
These Baked Ham Sandwiches are a great way to mix up the regular lunch or dinner routine. Especially if you have the leftover ham that needs to be used up the next day. The best meal I say is made quickly and from leftovers.
And of course, you can substitute for deli-style ham if you don’t have any leftovers. Either way, you make it, there will be a delicious lunch or dinner option. And let me say this: there is nothing better than leftovers.
But wait it, if you also have leftover turkey and cranberry sauce – check out this leftover meal – Cranberry Turkey Flatbread. It will make for another delicious meal.

Let’s Get Cooking And Make These Cheese Sliders With Ham
First thing, if you have leftover dinner rolls or those Hawaiian sweet rolls, your sandwiches just got turned up a notch (BAMM!!! As Emeril Lagasse would say). You are going to want to use those up too. Your taste buds will thank you later.
How to Make Your Perfect Left-Over Ham Sandwiches
Next, you need to preheat the oven to 350. Then start to slice each dinner roll into tops and bottoms.
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and dijon and then spread on each dinner roll (tops and bottoms). Make sure you have covered each piece completely.
Then place the bottoms into a 13×9 buttered pan. 4 rows of 3 should fit. After placing it in your baking dish, we are going to start laying. Then, place your 2 pieces (quarters) of provolone at the bottom of each roll.
Then add sliced leftover Ham and then another 2 pieces (quarters) of American Cheese. Yes, we are doubling up on the cheese. Place tops on, and lightly press down.
Substitutions: Swiss cheese and cheddar cheese also pair well together.
Now, in a small bowl, add the butter, garlic, parsley, salt & pepper and melt in the microwave. Brush this butter mixture on the tops of the rolls. If you have extra, pour it evenly right over all the rolls! This step makes the a great addition. I wouldn’t skip this step.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds (optional) and mozzarella or parmesan cheese. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. Once out of the oven, you are ready to serve and enjoy.
Just be careful, they may be a little hot.
Taking Those Ham Leftovers and Giving Them A Delicious Make-Over
I love it when I can get a good deal on a large quantity of meat. Ham is going to be on sale during the holiday season. It’s one of those classic recipes to make for any holiday.
Even if you don’t cook it right away, just toss it into your freezer instead, it will be a great way to save money and feed your family multiple meals (or many, many Baked Ham Sandwiches).
These baked ham sandwiches are super easy and, of course, perfect for customizing to your family’s preferences. I like things a bit spicier than my kids, so adding something like a pepper jack cheese slice works for me, where it might not be for you.
I serve these sandwiches hot and they fly off the table. So be forewarned. Here are more leftover ham recipes you may enjoy!
The Perfect Leftover Ham Sandwich Recipe
These baked ham sandwiches are great slider-sized, which means they are the ideal portion size for kids and a fun way to dress up their lunch box with something other than a boring sandwich.
Serve with your favorite chips, pasta salad, potato salad, or baked beans!
