How to Make Halloween Ghost Cookies

First, you will want to take your time and melt the chocolate according to the package instructions. However, if it does state to use the microwave if at all possible, skip this method.

See tips for melting chocolate below.

Next, using a fork, dip each cookie in the melted chocolate and flip to coat both sides.

Remove the cookie from the chocolate with a fork and lightly tap the handle of the fork with your finger to help the excess chocolate drip off.

Transfer each coated cookie onto a piece of wax or parchment paper and place two candy eyes on the top of the chocolate.

Do not let chocolate set without placing candy eyes on your ghosts. If the chocolate hardens, you will be out of luck.

Allow the chocolate to cool and set before serving. Transfer to a festive serving dish or an airtight container.

Tips for melting chocolate:

  • Skip the microwave and use a double boiler. The microwave just heats it too fast and too hot. And more times than not, you will end up with cooked chocolate.
  • Stir constantly while melting. It should only take a minute or so.
  • When it becomes shiny it is ready for use.
  • You can use milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even semi-sweet chocolate. But obviously, you’ll lose the ghostly effect of these cookies.

How to Store These Halloween Cookies

Keep your Nutter ghost cookies in an airtight right on the counter. They will stay fresh for up to a week.

Otherwise, you can freeze them in a freezer bag or again in another airtight container. They will keep in the freezer for up to six months.
