What is Diamond Art?
Diamond Art is a relaxing, fun way to beat boredom and reduce stress. Diamond Art is a hobby where you stick diamond jewels onto a pattern to look like a mosaic. Sometimes called diamond art painting (although there is no paint involved), this fun, creative hobby is easy to do, frugal, and great for kids and adults.
It is a budget-friendly way of producing gorgeous pictures. They are also great for involving older kids. Transform your artwork into dazzling, gallery-worthy creations.
The Benefits of Creating Diamond Art
Spend time with family and friends. It is perfect for crafting together on a diamond painting project with your kids.
Relaxation and peacefulness. Focusing on gluing the beads while following the numbers keeps your focus and takes off your mind about any stress you might have.
Improve your mood and health.
Feeling happy. When you finish your craftwork, you will feel satisfied and proud. Now you can hang it on the wall as your new artwork.
What are Diamond Art Kits?
If you’ve decided you want to give this type of hobby a try, you’ll need a kit. You can select a cheap and cheerful picture or a larger, more expensive piece that will guarantee weeks of work.
The beauty of diamond painting is that you can start with an inexpensive small kit and see what you think. If you love it invest in a more expensive kit. There will be a difference in the quality and time needed for your work of art.
Diamond Art Kits are inexpensive. They can cost anywhere from $10 – 20 for a smaller one-piece.
Each kit, no matter the size, will have everything you need to complete. You do not need to purchase any additional accessories. The larger and typically better-quality ones can start at $20. Our family has completed larger, more expensive pieces and those that are inexpensive. We love them both.
The smaller ones (cheaper) you can complete at a much faster pace. For my son, this worked out well. You can see progress at a fast pace. The larger ones do take a lot longer to complete.
Kits will have some differences in features.
Round Diamonds vs. Square – This will be a personal preference. But speaking from experience, the round ones are easier to pick up and make the artwork look less pixilated.
3D vs 5D Diamonds – The 5D kit will be more sparkly.
The difference between 3D and 5D is the number of facets each diamond has. Again, a personal preference. We completed both kinds. We loved the 5D on a “Sugar Plum Fairy”. It turned out very pretty and having more facets made it look more sparkly.
Included in your kit
- printed canvas
- acrylic diamonds
- diamond applicator tool
- adhesive wax
- plastic tray
Where Can You Purchase
Before you start shopping, it is important to consider the size of the finished picture and how easily you will be able to frame it and hang it. Some standard sizes are much easier to find frames and mounts for!
We have had some problems trying to find a frame. Then I came across this magnetic poster board hanger that worked well. Size does matter depending on what you plan on doing after you finish your craft.
The Best Online Companies
Experienced diamond painting crafters have recommended these companies, and we must check them out. They love them because of the quality of the drills and the vast selection of canvas designs these companies offer.
Purchase in store
Here are the best options for shopping in-store for diamond paintings. I am sure there are more. These are the most common stores that I know carry them.
