Popular Beauty Recipes For Flawless Skin

We all want great skin, but we also don’t want the price tag that typically covers the cost of routine skin care products purchased in-store. It is not the time to put your beauty care on the back burner due to expenses.

Most of us may indeed could be putting off self-care because we feel like we can’t afford it right now, or that other things are more important. Don’t do that Mama! Taking some time to pamper yourself not only benefits you and your mental health, but it benefits the whole family, too.

There is something more to be said by ditching store-bought, mystery-ingredient-filled products and ransacking our fridges instead, right? The savings alone are a huge bonus, but removing harsh and unwanted chemicals does your body better.

We spend a large amount of our time deciphering what to put in our bodies – no chemicals, whole foods, healthy fats, vitamins, et cetera – let’s do the same for our beauty routines at home. There are lots of amazing DIY beauty recipes out there that you can use. And most can be found right in your pantry.

Here are just a few to get you started!

Sugar Scrubs

My daughter and I went to our favorite spot in Target and found 13-ounce sugar scrubs for an average cost of $8.99. My mouth dropped because we make the same recipes at home for one-fourth of the cost. Sugar scrubs are a popular beauty recipe you can make at home.

Homemade sugar scrubs are an easy and fun way to exfoliate your skin, leaving it silky, soft, and refreshed! There are all kinds of recipes out there on the internet. Here are three of my favorite recipes.

DIY Lavender Sugar Scrub

How Sugar scrubs work;

Sugar scrubs work to exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells while leaving your skin feeling soft and healthy. Exfoliation is an essential step in taking care of your skin and is especially great during dry winter months!

Olive Oil Hair Treatment

DIY beauty treatments that you can do at home don’t get too much easier than this. Warm olive oil with or without some scented essential oils, a towel or shower cap, and 30 minutes to let it sit are all you need for shinier, healthier hair.

After allowing the olive oil to sit for 30 minutes, wash out the olive oil and enjoy your soft, beautiful, and well-hydrated hair! You can do this treatment once every other week.

Yogurt Mask

Did you know that you can make a simple yogurt facial mask with nothing more than a few tablespoons of Greek yogurt? It’s best to use plain, unflavored yogurt for a face mask, but not all types are created equal.

Benefits of a yogurt mask;

To use this mask simply spread the yogurt over your face. Let it sit for 20 minutes before washing it off. If you want to add more beauty benefits to your mask you can honey (antibacterial) or turmeric (extra righting) on your yogurt mask.

Baking Soda Face Mask

You read that right, you can make a facial mask that will help prevent and treat blackheads with just baking soda and water. Reducing acne breakouts is a big win, especially if you want to treat hormone-induced acne.

To make this face mask;

Mix between 1 and 2 teaspoons of baking soda with a facial cleanser and add a small amount of warm water to form a paste.

Massage into the affected area and leave on the skin for 10–15 minutes before washing it off with warm water.

If you would like, you can also add a little bit of lemon juice or essential oil and a teaspoon of honey to your baking soda face mask. Honey is hydrating, lemon is antibacterial, and baking soda is anti-inflammatory, which makes a great combination for a face mask.

Baking soda can dry out the skin, so apply a hydrating moisturizer immediately afterward to help prevent dry skin and tightness.

Coconut Oil Lip Scrub

Are your lips dry and chapped? Then you might like this easy DIY coconut oil lip scrub. You will need a tablespoon of coconut oil, a teaspoon of brown sugar, and if you would like a few drops of mint essential oils.

After mixing these together, place them in the freezer for a few hours. After freezing, rub a piece between your fingers and rub in circular motions on your lips for three to five minutes.

Plus, I love this coconut face wash.

Shampoo

Commercial shampoos are often filled with a lot of harsh chemicals that actually aren’t so great for your hair.

Making your own homemade shampoo

You can make your own homemade shampoo with just a few ingredients. Combine ¼ cup of water, ¼ cup of liquid castile soap, ½ teaspoon of jojoba oil, 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 3 tablespoons of apple juice, and 6 finely ground cloves in the blender for a homemade anti-dandruff shampoo.

Now you have six popular beauty recipe treatments that you can make and use at home.

Don’t forget to take some time for self-care and to pamper yourself.

Self-care is key to rejuvenating your mind, body, and soul so that you can be the best that you can be for your family.
