Ingredients Needed to Make This Crock Pot Pork Chop Recipe

One of the most frequently asked questions I get about cooking pork involves cooking pork chops in the crock pot.

I think people love pork chops but aren’t always sure exactly how to cook them so that they stay nice and juicy.

This recipe is so simple, quick to put together with no worry. The pork chops come out perfectly each time.

Crock pot pork chops are an easy dinner to get on the table with minimal effort.

  • 4 thick-bone in pork chops
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1-10.5oz canned cream of mushroom soup
  • 1-10.5oz canned cream of chicken soup
  • 1-14.5 oz can of beef broth
  • 2 cups sliced mushrooms – I used fresh white button mushrooms
  • 1/2 yellow onion, sliced

Substitutions

You can swap out a Pork Loin if you can’t find Pork Chops! Boneless pork chops are essentially pork loin that has been sliced into nice size portions.

Swap chicken for the pork. Pork is considered the “other white meat” because of the way it looks when it is cooked.

It has a mild flavor, so you can often swap pork for chicken and chicken for pork in a recipe.

Instructions to Make Crock Pot Pork Chops

The most important piece to making this recipe is deciding what time you want to eat. These pork chops take 7-8 hours to cook, so you do need to plan accordingly to coordinate your side dishes if you are planning on any.

Step One: Preheat oil over medium-high heat using a large pan. Season pork with salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder.

Step Two: Sear pork chops on each side for about 3 minutes each.

Step Three: Remove pork chops from the pan. Set aside.

Step Four: Add cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup plus the beef broth to the pan and whisk until a sauce develops.

Step Five: Place mushrooms and onions at the bottom of the slow cooker.

Add the pork chops on top of the mushrooms and onions.

Step Six: Pour the sauce over the top. Cook on low for 7-8 hours or until pork is tender.

Storing Left Over Smothered Pork Chops

Cooked pork chops don’t keep forever. When it comes to their shelf life, here’s what you need to know so it doesn’t become a guessing game.

Cooked pork chops will keep 3-4 days in the fridge. In the freezer, they will keep forever (although they will lose their best quality within 2-3 months from the date of freezing).

This means if freezing, I would make sure to eat them within 3 months of initial freezing.
