As we are getting closer and closer to the holidays, we all know what that means. For some of us it is rushing out to buy the best turkey for Thanksgiving or researching those black Friday ads for the best deals on Christmas presents. But for everyone it also means a time to spend with those we love and care about as well as remembering those who are less fortunate.
Over the years, Mother Teresa Academy, the parents and students have collectively gathered together to participate in a food drive. This year was no different. SuperStorm Sandy hit the Northeast with devastating winds & torrential rain that left some families with close to nothing except what was on their backs. Local communities far and wide banded together to support those who were left with nothing. With the outpouring of support for those effected by this storm, food pantries started to run low on items to provide the necessary needs to the local residents.
Giving back to those who are in need is a reflection of love. More importantly showing God’s love. I am so very proud to say that I was invited to help Mother Teresa Academy stretch their money further to purchase more items for those in need. Over the coarse of 2 weeks, the parents & students collected close to $300 and over 450 non-perishable food items that included household and personal care products.
“We can do no great things – only small things with great love”
Price Chopper’s social media/blogger relations team collected and donated $100 to help support this cause. We are very grateful for the extra monetary help. Now it was my turn (Inspiring Savings) to stretch this amount to its fullest. A few days of researching deals and gathering coupons and we were all set to visit our Shopper’s World Price Chopper in Clifton Park.
Our Shopping Trip:
Saved: $201.05 (Advantage Savings & Coupons)
Purchased 289 items
Items we purchased included 30 bottles of shampoo & conditioner, 35 deodorant sticks, 10 jars of peanut butter, 15 large jars of fruit, diapers and much more.
All donated items went to Karyl’s Kupbord which is associated with Captain Youth and Family Services in Clifton Park. The amount received will support well over 100 families during this holiday season.
Thank you Mother Teresa Academy for inviting me to join this wonderful cause. Thank you to Price Chopper’s social media/blogger relations team for your support and donation.
